这里没有冷漠. In New Engl和, outdoor terraces are designed to last long into fall. 首页owners are still spending time in the great outdoors, 但, 就像树叶变色一样, 体验发生了变化. 而不是在泳池里溅起水花, 我们在热气腾腾的温泉里放松, 围着火转, having drinks 和 a meal on a glowing outdoor patio, or comm和ing the 烧烤 while catching the game.

在团队的努力下 丹·K. 戈登景观设计事务所典范景观建设, a pergola design adds prominence to the kitchen of an alfresco entertaining experience, 还包括火坑和水疗吗. Refrigeration 和 plenty of storage is crafted right into the stone, while two tiers of bluestone countertops (complementing the paving) make it easy for the chef to socialize during food prep.

The absence of a pool as an outdoor amenity secures the terrace’s three-season status. 黄昏来了, 这次经历有不同的视角, 当炉火和蜡烛熊熊燃烧, 和 outdoor lighting punctuates choice features. A glimmering spa allows guests 和 homeowners to relax in its healing waters 和 still have a view of the bar-side TV.

In another project, the very same dream team—丹·K. 戈登景观设计事务所 和 典范景观建设—work their magic on a pool terrace in Wellesley. In autumn, this design is a feast for the senses. A crackling fire 和 pool spillway into the spa bring an audible appeal, 一面华丽的格子墙, detailed gardens 和 l和scape lighting imbue warmth 和 visual interest.

While summer harnesses the tactile (sunshine’s rays, Course s和 和 salty surf), 对我们来说, 秋天与视觉结合. 可以说是最大气的季节, fall is our “last dance” before winter’s blanket of snow. Even though we may be less likely to don a swimsuit, we still gravitate poolside for as long as we’re able.

LeBlanc Jones景观设计事务所屋顶露台就是这样一个例子. The firm drew on the nighttime gleam of Fenway Park 和 the shimmering cityscape when creating this spare 但 luxurious sky-high hangout. Significant engineering constraints proved insignificant to the aesthetic; the project reflects its inc和escent urban setting, rather than relying heavily on plantings 和 structure.

The urban lounge, which is centered around a shallow pool, is kinetic come nightfall. Planters brimming with hardy grasses 和 plants line the plush seating areas 和 soften the industrial edges, while translucent canopies shield the sun by day 和 let in the stars by night.

南岸喷水池 & 水疗中心’s idyllic pool above also seizes the beauty of its still waters, 自然硬景观和秋天的背景. Even though one may not feel inclined to take a plunge, this elemental scene is every bit as rich as that of a summer’s day. This is nature 和 design as art—one’s gaze soars from the mirrored pool, beyond its infinity edge 和 out to the fiery foliage beyond.

Cozy alfresco spaces are also enchanting this time of year, as cooler temps make it easy to linger 和 take full advantage of shoulder season designs. 一个恰当的例子? 景观设计师Matthew Cunningham’s garden (shown above) created for an 1890s row house in Beacon Hill. This small courtyard with big dreams boasts b和s of bluestone 和 brick underfoot, 和 a custom shed 和 bench crafted from western red cedar along the entirety of one side.

一个雕刻在木头上的凹室, 完成照明, provides an optimal perch to settle in with a book 和 a cashmere throw, 但 it’s the historic brick-lined drinking well that steals the show. Capped in glass 和 illuminated during the evening, the former hazard becomes an amber focal point that emits a soft warm glow, 也是对过去的致敬.

直到第一次霜冻来临, hardy New Engl和 types often prefer the outdoor living room for impromptu entertaining. With hardscapes like the one designed by l和scape artisans 一片草如下图所示,不难看出原因. This graduated terrace is at once private 和 social, 和 features a designated 烧烤ing area 和 plenty of intimate seating. 这是一个欢乐的赛前聚会场所, 烧烤, 早午餐和鸡尾酒, just remember to swap out those gin 和 tonics for Moscow mules!
